Stellar Faculty, Great Location.

Rutgers University has a national reputation for outstanding continuing education programs. As a teacher, you know how important a high quality, engaging educational program can be. That’s why we invite you to Rutgers University’s Seventh Annual AP Summer Institute.  Rutgers offers this program in partnership with the College Board.

This summer we will offer 12 week-long intensive summer seminars for AP teachers on the Rutgers New Brunswick Campus.  These sessions are designed for both beginning and experienced instructors and will enable a diverse group of educators to focus on specific pedagogical issues in the AP classroom.  Our experienced and insightful faculty will provide a rich learning environment in a comfortable setting.

At Rutgers you can earn either Continuing Education hours or graduate credit for your participation in the Summer AP Institute. Please see "How to Register" in the navigation bar at left for more information.

What’s New

  • New AP Workshops

This year, the AP Summer Institute has added workshops in AP Physics and Computer Science. The program also will address the new exams being introduced in Chemistry and Spanish language and culture, which will be administered in 2014. This is a great opportunity for educators to learn about changes to the exams.

  • Pre-AP Professional Development Workshops

In a recent survey of New Jersey high school administrators, we found that a majority (53.85%) rated the alignment of 6th- through 11th grade curricula with AP course curricula as only "fair." Nearly half (41.67%) of respondents also rated their AP students' preparation for AP coursework in 6th through 11th grade as only "fair."

To help districts align curriculum across grade levels and build and strengthen pre-AP vertical teams, Rutgers University will introduce three new Pre-AP Professional Development Workshops in Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences & History, this August. Designed for middle and high school teachers, the Pre-AP Professional Development Workshops will help teachers integrate AP knowledge and competency standards into their curricula, engage students in active, high-level learning, and provide their students with the skills needed to succeed in college.

  • Team Discount

To encourage districts to send teams of AP or Pre-AP teachers to our AP Summer Institute, we can offer a special non-credit rate of only $900 per person for teams of 3 or more teachers who register together from the same the same district. Please contact us directly for more information.
